Thanks for the additional update h2.
I can see the value and the strategy now:
Basically since the vast majority of hardware, even in inexpensive mobile technology, now has multiple processors and efficient operations it makes sense to use more pins to operate parallel network connections to increase speed and presumably reliability too.

I’ve not read up on USB 4.0 but now it sounds like it can indeed be beneficial for speed and reliability.

I’m doing my “Morning dance”, (not Spiro Gyra, just the routine of updating my various distributions) on my HP-14.
This morning I started with Endeavour OS. Usually it’s as solid as a rock, but this morning I was having problems connecting to the Internet.
Yesterday Spectrum, the network services provider in our facility, was having intermittent issues; maybe they are STILL going on.
Once it finally resolved, good ole’ Endeavour OS is running GREAT as usual.

I used to have this particular one set up with Xfce, but I decided, just for the exercise of it to set this up with KDE Plasma – DEFINITELY NOT because I need it, simply because 1) KDE Plasma represents the polar opposite to what we do here with antiX and 2) because KDE was the first desktop environment I used on a Linux system. The first window manager I EVER used with a Linux distribution was fvwm on Slackware in 1995, and later, when I got an improved graphics driver, I added fvwm-crystal; it was a couple of years later when I was using Red Hat, Mandrake, SUSE, and Libranet (a Debian variation) that I got interested in KDE. At the time, it was a nice desktop, and it was actually nicer looking than the commercial version of CDE that I had been using earlier in the nineties on some of the UNIX systems I worked on professionally at the time…

Anyway, that’s another one of my “historical digressions”… on with the day and the dance through the various distros I happen to have installed at the moment.

My wife’s next door neighbor (when we were growing up), and my university roommate, neighbor, and the one I’d travel between our neighborhood home in Fraser, Michigan and our university home (~560 miles away) in Houghton, Michigan (WESTERN Upper Peninsula of Michigan) passed away today.

He was my age, would be turning 67 this year, and has been suffering since January 2023 with Stage 4 Cancer.

Anyway, when we traveled, in those days there were no smart phones, no wide area networks, and very few radio stations with decent reception, so my neighbor and roommate had a few Elton John cassette tapes and we’d listen to them over and over on our long journeys.

So Kevin z. Mason, this is “Your Song” (Elton John): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FT3D1Cu6g10&list=RDEMtu8TSn01ATwUIqXnxfa6zQ&index=3

While I was on antiX 23 I went through several Web browsers, updating their versions, and in a few cases, adding a few other configuration changes.
I’m currently doing the same and more on antiX 22, including investigating the configuration of links2.

blur13 is probably our current expert regarding links2 configurations so if you have questions or comments about that, look in the forum post
“Replace Dillo with links2 GUI in off-line help links in antiX” or contact blur13.
