::I’m totally OK with discussing inxi here; I started this thread, so from my perspective, it’s a personal journal that I’ll allow a lot of general purpose stuff, as long as it doesn’t overwhelm my own purpose for this topic. The reality is that the smxi and inxi tools are the primary vehicles I use to journal and document whatever I’m doing, so in this author’s opinion, they are not only ON TOPIC, they are assisting my journal history, which I tie back to how I use antiX in relationship to a few other distributions; I’m delighted in the way this is going!
On that point, now that I have at least one of my system updated with a current tool, I can use our GUI tool and it provides a lot of up-to-date information:

::I’m back today with my Dell Inspiron 5558 laptop and the USB instance of antiX-21-runit_x64-full Grup Yorum 30 October 2021.
Earlier today I checked out my distributions to see which of them are maintained with the current version of inxi and which of them have to be manually updated.
The two which definitely have the current version (which I was expecting) were EndeavourOS and siduction. Both of these are developed and maintained by developers who desire, develop, and expect the most current, up-to-date, well maintained software, and neither of them disappoint. The other distributions are good too, they just emphasize different things: MX Linux is a midsized general purpose distribution with a moderate group of applications and only a moderate number of duplication, and if there are any applications with similar functionality, their distinct characteristics, requested presence and popularity contribute to their presence. antiX tries to contain the number, size, and efficiency of applications, so it is not specifically focused on maintaining the “latest and greatest version” of anything, though both distributions are very much based on high quality, as are EndeavourOS and siduction.
The other distribution I have installed is PCLinuxOS. It’s a good general purpose distribution intended to provide the maximum number of choices, so restraining or restricting any application or feature is definitely not an aim of PCLinuxOS; instead it’s brand of simplicity is to provide a broad range of applications and features, allowing users and the community to create respins and variations that are tailored to more specific needs, and it does this well.
I’m not going to post the inxi listing because we’ve seen it before, though possibly without the updates of the current 3.3.16 or the pinxi test updates.
Here’s a short pinxi listing though:pinxi CPU: dual core Intel Core i7-5500U (-MT MCP-) speed/min/max: 1650/500/3000 MHz Kernel: 4.9.0-279-antix.1-amd64-smp x86_64 Up: 44m Mem: 2454.9/7961.2 MiB (30.8%) Storage: 476.43 GiB (3.8% used) Procs: 189 Shell: Bash pinxi: 3.3.16-31- This reply was modified 11 months ago by Brian Masinick.

::Ah, you found the new inxi. Note there is a sensors issue, but I couldn’t resolve it, it’s something the kernel did, and rather than wait around forever to get answers for that one, I did 3.3.17 to get it out the door, where it needs to be to catch more corner cases and failures, which will not be visible to most users because the failures are transparent, all that happens is no data appears, but there’s enough showing usually to let em figure it out.

::3.3.18 is coming out quick, there was a bug with the refactor that tripped up a rare corner case, but fatal error.
that’s fixed in pinxi now.
Also, waiting for data on slimski, mainly the output of:
slimski -v
so I can add it to dm lists and data.

::I’m going through my systems on my Acer Aspire 5 A515-55. PCLinuxOS was one remaining distribution where I had not checked or updated inxi until today; now it’s @ the current Stable version (which will probably change soon, due to what h2 just stated). In any case, I have the vehicles to modify both the test version and the stable version of inxi; here’s the current data for this system:

::I’m not on a system that has antiX or slimski today; otherwise I’d help out; if anyone else can do so today that would be nice and helpful to satisfy the request from h2. Thanks!

::Here is the current info for siduction on my Acer Aspire 4 A5155-55. For those unfamiliar with siduction, it is a fully functional distribution based on Debian Sid; it’s quite usable, even with the so-called “Unstable” packages. At least in my experience as long as you’re careful to be aware of major change windows where significant infrastructure packaging is undergoing change, and you wait until ALL such changes are available, in other day to day situations this is just as usable and stable, (meaning a reasonable degree of useful software), this works and it’s also reasonably efficient, particularly for a full featured configuration.
