::I’m in the process of putting my trio of test Firefox browsers on my Thinkpad T510. I put my own copy of the current Firefox Release, a copy of the Firefox Developer Edition and a copy of Firefox Nightly. Once installed, each of them change any time their instance has an update available. Being a geek, I happen to like this method of checking on, and updating a browser group that I’ve used since Firefox was introduced.

::One of the things I noticed yesterday – and I *think* I mentioned it before “signing off” for the day, is that when I checked out the different window managers in our distro, both on antiX 22 and 23 Beta 1, the “Applications” menu was showing up on the “other” window managers; on IceWM there was a different organization, with some of the top level stuff showing up in an antiX folder and the rest being reasonably located in various named categories.
I did move over for a little while to a Thinkpad T510, where I haven’t messed around with apps and organizations that much; on that instance – and it was antiX 23 Beta 1, a remastered image originally built on my HP-14, then installed on a couple of other machines. There, I DID see Applications, but it was empty. Moreover, very few of the app menus or categories were filled in; I had to use either App Select to find them or go directly into /usr/local/bin for our own apps and tools or /usr/bin to locate “regular” apps, so something was definitely wrong. I’m going to poke around some more today and see if I can resolve this matter myself, possibly just customizing my own IceWM menu files; it’s not THAT difficult, but first I’ll see if I can fix the standard mechanisms, and if those fail, I’ll fix it in my own private directory; either way, by finding this on one of my other old pieces of hardware, perhaps it’ll lead us to what’s causing some of these issues. It’s DEFINITELY something that CAN be solved! 🙂

::Wrapping up with antiX 23 Beta 1 on my Dell Inspiron 5558, which has “retained” the traditional menu with the Applications menu.
I’m going to be out of state for about a week; I’ll have a mobile Internet capable phone, but no antiX computer for the road.
See you when I return! Best wishes to all!

::Safely arrived in Harrisburg, PA.
I found this is the Capital of Pennsylvania. I probably learned that in elementary school but that’s too long ago to remember very well.On to Owls Head, New York in the far northeast corner of the state.

::I’m home and a bit more rested after our return now. It was much cooler (and in a few overnight cases, “COLDER”); one morning we awoke to frost on the windows of our vehicle, though it was not heavy and it only took a moment to clear off. It was also very rainy, we didn’t have a single day in the north where it didn’t rain at least part of the day or in a drizzle, if not more. One day my niece’s farm was full of mud; the next day was much better getting around without tracking mud everywhere.
My niece is awesome! She is in her twenties, yet she and her husband own and operate their very own animal farm, and they do almost everything themselves, including treating routine animal illness; they’ve only needed the assistance of veterinary help once since they built their farm.
Back home, it’s back to warmer weather and blue skies!
