Could it be that it has been abandoned for good since skidoo’s and Xecure’s “departures”?

Hell, last post there was mine…

Not certain what you mean. It appears to be there for me even when logged out…

Or are you referring to the lack of activity in that group?

I can’t speak for everybody else that contributes to antiX’s Development, but I’ve been creating scripts that add functionality to antiX (like this one https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/script-to-automagically-mount-a-samba-shared-folder-in-antix/#post-78786). As soon as I think that the script I’m working on is production ready, I usually send anticapitalista a PM, explaining what the script does and why it could be a nice addiction antiX. All of those scripts are usually incorporated into the FT10 package latest beta version. The the final, non beta version Ft10 is available in the antiX repository under the name “ft10-transformation” – as far as I know, compiled by anticapitalista himself from the original compressed source code – so, in a way at least those contributions to antiX’s development are getting included in a official although optional package – that anyone can install and have some extra features available (no need to enable FT10 toolbar and menu – most applications, like Debinstaller, Translator, Cloud, Weather, News, Clock – with GUI World Clock, Alarms, Timers and a basic Stopwatch, and the beta includes already the Shared Folders Script) are available from the menu, once you install ft10-transformation.
People can contribute to antiX’s development and not post over at the Development sub forum…
I do miss Xecure and Skidoo, as far as I know, both departed from the forum for completely different reasons- that’s life – people come, people go- no one stays in the same place forever, I guess… fortunately new users drop in quite often, particularly from Brazil – how long do you think new users will take to start contributing to antiX’s Development?
I also take it as a good sign, that there is not so much missing from antiX as it was some 4 years ago, when I started using it – antiX is more feature rich, friendlier to use and much better themed – all nice characteristics that help acquire and keep new users- and still is the best full fledged OS for using on low spec hardware…

I agree; there is plenty of activity; we have an antiX 21 release that is reasonably current, plus we have an antiX 19.5 version for those who need Version 4 kernels, plus PPC and others continue to be active with scripts, tools, and applications, plus ideas and optional add-ons.

There may be distributions out there that have newer, fancier, bleeding edge (bloated) software that is newer, and attracts more attention, but even among the newer distributions, there are relatively few distributions that have as many recent tools, tips, utilities and customized applications as the ones written by our own team here. Any distribution that approaches or exceeds what we offer has resource consuming software and a large group of people capable of developing and supporting software. Regardless of what anyone else does, I’m very happy with what our small, dedicated team of volunteers accomplishes.

Could it be that it has been abandoned for good since skidoo’s and Xecure’s “departures”?
Hell, last post there was mine…

Not my role to answer this but as just an antiX interested user my observation is also that there seems little or none activity in that section. However, regardless of the reasons for the loss of two quoted developers little development activity appears to me understandable anyway:
                – antiX 21 Runit achieved perfection and became the top of the curve in antiX development. Great accomplishment thanks to huge contribution of Xecure and also skidoo…
                – Stability of antiX 21, no material issues, etc. translates into less development requirement within such already perfect antiX 21.
                – It appears to me that it remains now to the antiX owner to figure out what next major idea would be to accomplish for antiX, what would drive further development, such as Runit was, aside from usual expected upgrades…

Having said the above, my suggestion would be in the interim to further enhance boot architecture for Live antiX. E.g.:

                – Currently kernels must reside in antiX folder on the same partition as Syslinux. This is unnecessary restriction, as /antiX folder containing linuxfs file can reside on any partition or folder. Perhaps kernel files can be moved to /boot folder to eliminate such restriction?
                – antiX Live partition is Ext4 by design. Since Syslinux/extlinux supports btrfs system, there is an opportunity to make it more flexible. I am running antiX Live from a second partition formatted as btrfs and runs fine, just not as default antiX Ext4 partition…
Just my two cents ideas… as just an average user…

                  Thanks everyone.
I understand that I was wrong.

Just one thing, do you think someone could help a bit in this thread?
                  https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/doubts-about-antix-init-script/
I did try doing more tests on my own, but still cannot solve the doubts by myself…
But I don’t want to use PM/email unnecessarily neither.

                  Thanks.
