You must be wrong. About Remmina: „To quickly start a remote access, select the RDP protocol, type the hostname or IP address of the computer you want to connect to (e.g. 10.0.0.251) and hit Enter” (see e.g. this article for a detailed howto).

About your precise question, which client is best, I cant give you any advice, sorry.

@robin I am very right. There is no RDP option in the drop down menu. You can try to install it yourself and see if I’m right or wrong.

do you have the rdp plugin installed?

            apt install remmina-plugin-rdp

Please check whether the package remmina-plugin-rdp was installed on your system:

Open a roxterm (console) window. Enter:

              sudo apt-get update
              apt-cache policy remmina-plugin-rdp

If this package turns out not being installed, perform following steps which might solve your issue:

              sudo apt-get purge remmina*
              sudo apt-get install remmina remmina-plugin-vnc remmina-plugin-rdp

@robin @xinomilo finally got it to work as i needed the plugins listed above and the following command actually solved it:

                sudo apt-get purge remmina*
                sudo apt-get install remmina remmina-plugin-vnc remmina-plugin-rdp
