::@masinik, have loads of Zappa on vinyl. Must set up my antique player again.
I fitted a new cartridge, setting up the arm is a pain in the rear.
Ortofon Blue, SME 3009 Mk3, Thorens TD160, Beats my rega CD player by miles
for sound.
Goes through an Alchemist Kraken Class a amp and KEF Floorstanders. Not sure how many, Loads of LP, hundreds, many from new and play that way.
Second hand carefuly bought and cleaned, new sleeves.
The Thorens deck will be passed on to my daughter along with the Amp, both
are very enjoyable sound wise.Vinyl records last longer than we ever will, if cared for.

::@Moddit: I had one or two Frank Zappa black vinyl albums from way back. Zappa is one unusual personality but he was a talented musician.
I had a diverse collection of a few classical albums, quite a few jazz albums, a couple of rock albums not frequently played on the radio.
These days I stream most of what I listen to. If I like it enough I will support the artist or group either by attending a concert or purchase media or something that they request.

::@masinik, attending a concert, last one was only sitting, two meters between persons,
atmosphere like a funeral.I listen to some stramed music, prefer to have better quality though.
Vinyl is my medium of choice, a lot of presses working full time again now.Disadvantage, no portability and to scratch good quality out of the grooves a pretty
heavy investment. My anchient deck arm and cartridge at least 1500 Euro and going
up. If any come up on E Bay or HIFI Forum they seem to sell very rapidly.Last listen Scorpions, changes. Sadly the present changes are not as happy as hoped for.

::@moddit, the good old vinyl is the best choice when it comes to really enjoying music and listening in good quality. I fully agree with that.
Nevertheless, the atmosphere at live concerts can be very special and on youtube there are some very good moments captured that never made it to the record, or if at least got revised.November 11, 2020 at 11:59 am #44792Moderator

::@catfood,
I can’t seem to make video link reasonably sized
I had the same problem, but actually it is quite simple. You need the ID of the youtube video. It’s part of the url. There are some tutorials how to find the ID on the net.
After finding it, the bb-code for embedding is
youtube width=400 height=175 in big brackets […]
followed by the ID
followed by
/youtube also in big brackets […]I hope this is understandable.

::Yeah man ! I will listen to anything except (sorry peeps c&w and jazz) . But there is just something about about blues ,especially 12 bar. Cut my teeth on music when I joined the RAF in 1970 . Just listened to the middle of the road radio before then, but when you are in a room with twenty other blokes from all over the UK, you soon learn that there is a vast variety out there. Mainly because we were only allowed one record player per room so therefore had to take it turns to play (if you had any) LPs. Led to many “arguments” I can tell you.
