I’m looking for a quick way to turn on wifi using AntiX 19 386 base (Mar 2020 version) and my previous centi setup.
Can I set up a script that turns on my wifi using the ceni settings I previously set ?

Has the answer not perhaps already been given ?

Does ceni still not auto connect? You might could post your /etc/network/interfaces (hiding passwords of course)

I thought it was settled but ceni still doesn`t auto-connect

I can see wifi activity in the conky display, but it in the ‘eth1 down’ conky display not the ‘eth1 up’ display

          here` the requested file contents..

          #——————————————————————————
          # /etc/network/interfaces
          #
          # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
          # Used by ceni but not by connman
          #——————————————————————————

          auto lo
          iface lo inet loopback

          iface default inet dhcp

          allow-hotplug eth1
          iface eth1 inet dhcp
          wpa-psk xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
          wpa-ssid House stark

          allow-hotplug eth0
          iface eth0 inet dhcp

Is this relevant to antiX ?? It’s very well explained and easy to follow
but the antiX conky still indicates ‘eth1 down’ is working, not ‘eth1 up’

            https://www.ghacks.net/2009/04/14/connect-to-a-wireless-network-via-command-line/

Which is the same result i get using

Is there really a space in the middle of the name?

I have used a program called wpa_gui which comes in the wpagui package to maintain the wpa_supplicant configuration successfully, but not recently. i also seem to recall using ceni to maintain it directly before i started using roaming mode (mine are mostly laptops and I have multiple wifi setups here).

I have tried doing it via raw commands, like the sites you posted, but sometimes it didn’t solve it. The sequences of commands you show look in general like what I followed. Sorry, I can’t help more. If you need more help, post all the output from the commands (changing the password of course) so that if someone is more knowledgeable, maybe they will spot the problem and post a solution…

I did the ceni scan method and switched a 386 version laptop to a different wifi hub with a password etc and it worked fine here.

btw, you do know that wlan0 refers to wifi and eth0 refers to hard wired ethernet?

Note the WPA section. On mine, I think that might be why I got an error when I got to iwconfig

after trying every thing, I wondering if this could be the reason…how can I change eth1 to wlan1 ??

In ceni it should be on the screen and you just arrow down to it. If not, then it isn’t being recognized. In a terminal, would suggest typing

                              inxi -Fxz

and post the results here. I’m probably not smart enough to fix that unless its something I’ve worked with before.

Applications –> System –> PC Information provides an information tool about the hardware and software on your system.

Select tne network configuration and press OK, or simply type ifconfig -a and you can see which network devices are available.

My system shows eth0: for Ethernet, lo: for the loopback interface, and wlan0: for the Wifi interface.

                                Also, I ran the command:
                                ip link show wlan0
                                and it generated:

3: wlan0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UP mode DORMANT group default qlen 1000
                                link/ether <hardware address here, (omitted)>
