Where is the antiX IRC?

Hello, all

The Forum->antiX IRC page on this very site seems to imply that there is an IRC channel dedicated to antiX, but it fails to provide the coordinates of that channel, i.e. the server and channel name. So where is that channel?

There is one, but I guess based on the above its unofficial:

irc.libera.chat
#antiX

Its pretty quiet, though. I see people coming in and hanging around, but not much in the way of questions, answers or discussions. For it to be useful, the channel would need to be logged and archived so you could search it, etc. It seems like this is a better forum for discussion because its more organized.

Sad news, for IRC and mailing lists are more traditional, stable, and accessible media than anything web-based. Would you consider starting an antiX mailing list? And, please, remove the misleading IRC menu and page from this website.

Good news! I then modify my request and ask you to specify these credentials on the IRC page and add a descriptive subject (room topic) to the channel’s metadata. Currently it has none.

You could try asking a question there and see if its better than here?

There is also a Facebook group, but again, based on what I saw its not really the best way to get technical support.

I am back from irc://libera.chat/#antix
and am proud to confirm that it is the unofficial IRC channel about antiX Linux. May I ask the administrator to specify this channel on the IRC page, if the author does not object?

The #antix channel being ad-hoc, unmanaged, and unregistered, I have created and registered a new one—#antix-linux. Should the antiX stuff desire to take it over, I will gladly yield them both channel ownership and operator privileges. If, on the other hand, they decide to create an official channel with a standard name of #antixlinux, I will immediately remove my channel out of the way.

Can no longer remember where or when, but I’m 100% sure it was in this forum.

Devs/mods already made clear once here that they don’t like IRC very much for a number of reasons.
So if there are some “channels” at libera .chat, they are necessarily unofficial and most likely with little to no activity.

However, I do think that it’d be better idea to completely remove the “antiX IRC” page from the forum to avoid further misleading…
