::@PPC, I contribute here, and frequent this antiX forum, because I really appreciate the skills of folks like you and anticapitalista, Dave, and many, many others, who have been kind enough to share their software with us mere mortals free of cost. And, like Marcelo and others, I am delighted to have found this excellent distro that can be used to get the most out of old equipment.
I sometimes share what I have been able to achieve with antiX. And I sometimes answer the questions of new users who may not yet know how antiX can be effectively used. But I don’t expect that everyone will be civil. I’ve been on these forums for over 40 years and I know how it goes sometimes. Sometimes I’ll take a break if it seems like it might turn too negative. But mostly, this forum is very friendly and productive. Agreement is not always necessary for a good forum experience. But it helps if people can be civil, or even kind. We get a lot more of that here than some of the alternative outlets.
Actually, given that the user base here is so diverse, I am surprised it is as civil as it is.
Keep on sharing. That’s what it’s all about.

::To be honest, I probably don’t even belong here. I’m a devout capitalist, but a Capitalist of the original type, not like the Ponzi con artists who call themselves capitalists or Economists that are currently drowning the world in debt and fraud. (“Paper is poverty, it is only the ghost of money“, Thomas Jefferson)
Political and economic views aside, I believe that the computer’s best purpose is to help people do things that would be too hard or tedious to do otherwise. I work because nobody wants me to retire. I’ve been designing, programming, implementing, and teaching people to use systems (non-Linux) for 50 years, picking up all kinds of knowledge along the way, and got so angry at the money grubbing methods of MS and other companies, that I managed to find a way to use Linux for at least most of my personal life.
It makes me feel good if I can make things easier or more doable, especially for people that have the desire, and just need a little help, even if they don’t have the best resources. My veins are filled with frugal Scot’s blood, so I find it very hard to throw old things away if they still work, and working on antiX gives me an excuse to keep more of my old computers around.
I figure things out because I like to, and it’s Ok if I need to learn new things along the way. That mentality is in my blood anyway. I don’t believe there is any sense trying to avoid what I am or what I like, so I might just as well enjoy it. I know there are many who are smarter than I, and write better code, and I’m Ok with that. If I want something badly enough, there is no limit to my ability or perseverance.

::Hi all
regarding (Mc Cartney) Correction John Lennon I tend towards Imagine.The forum as a global village working together, mostly in harmony, for the common good.
It is also a very useful knowledge base.antiX has taught me that there is rarely anything wrong with old hardware, only the attitude
of many owners and above all memory hogging cpu eating software.I am more than grateful for the work of all those who contribute to antiX, above all to
anticapitalista for his vision and dedication.- This reply was modified 1 year ago by ModdIt.

::Thanks Brian,
OOPS, red face now,
John Lennon and Oko are even on the cover and I listen to that song often.November 8, 2022 at 6:58 pm #92715ModeratorBrian Masinick
::I wasn’t intending to “call you out” or anything, I just recall the tone of voice in the song; though Paul and John are somewhat similar, Paul definitely has a higher tenor voice and John has a baritone voice. I don’t have either album in front of me, but I remember them from when I was still a student in school oh so long ago.
Music and computers are two of the things I’ve followed most of my life, though the styles and types of music I have listened to and followed have changed course several times; at times I followed jazz, other times classics, at a few times, contemporary pop music, etc. Same with computers – mainframes, desktop and office servers, desktop personal systems, laptops, tablets, phones, etc. … then, of course, different generations and types of OS, including Linux and specifically antiX!
It’s all good here, good music, good company, good collaboration!
