Hi I am running antiX-19 on one machine an Sid (installed from antX-19) on another. Both use sysvinit. On the stable install, acpid is installed; in the Sid install, acpid isn’t installed. I decided to install it and when I checked the programs it depends upon found that runit-helper is one. I checked the stable install and realized that runit-helper is installed there.

I understand that runit-helper in a sysvinit system isn’t harmful, but I am puzzled that acpid is dependent upon it, even in sysvinit systems.

Appreciate clarification why this is the case. (searched the forum – didn’t see any explanation.)

      Thanks.

Ask Debian why they made it a dependency.

        https://packages.debian.org/sid/acpid

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

          Hi anticapitalista,

Good thought. I just sent an email to the maintainer. If I learn the answer I will report back.

Thanks and Happy New Year to you and yours.
