WICD not showing wireless networks when they are clearly there as CENI sees them, and my session is connected to
one. In this area are 10-15 secure networks and 1 or 2 unsecured ones, WICD quite often fails to show any at all. Is there a bug or have I got things set up wrongly? I connect automatically to the one I use, with the assistance of CENI when needed.
My connection drops out occasionally, not a serious problem unless I am downloading something big.

Using an Acer Travelmate 4100 in ‘has been better’ condition but running Heather Heyer right up to date.

Thanks in advance for suggestions advice and tuition.

I would check the wicd preferences and make sure the wireless interface matches the interface ceni is using.

I’ve no clue why it doesn’t work for you, but only wanna say — it works like a charm here — just tested again in antiX and Devuan, both ‘Live’ and installed.

              try using what

              ip a

              or

              ifconfig

shows you. Copy to a blank text file. Compare with Ceni and wicd-gtk preferences.

A good suggestion Admin, WICD is looking on eth0 while wireless is on eth1, easily switched in the preferences. But this relates to a previous post – why is the boot trying to swap eth0 to eth1 and eth1 to eth0 ? I never discovered why, just put up with it when it took place. Maybe using WICD and CENI indescriminately is causing them to get confused? The many networks in this building seem to be an ever-changing proposition, I connect automatically 10 or 20 times without trouble, then can’t and need CENI to find what’s there and replace the interface.

sorry but Wordfence will not allow the result of these two commands to be sent or pasted as text so it has to be a pdf.
