Is there a guide to wifi configuration for dummies?

I must be doing something wrong, I can’t figure out how to make it work.

It finds my network but asks for passphrases when I try to connect. Weird.

          Unfortunately no.

Connman finds the wifi but when I try to connect, a new window called Agent Input opens. It asks for Passphrase, Old Password and a lot more. I can only access the Passphrase field and it doesn’t accept the wifi password.

          What am I doing wrong?

I think it is asking for your ESSID passphrase to your router, (WPA2).

            Linux (& BSD) since 1999

Ok, so I tried connmanctl without success.

After going through the steps and entering connect wifi_name of my wifi, it returns

              Error’connect’: Argument list too long

              Any help is greatly appreciated.

There’s only the wifi password. I don’t have a passphrase to the router.

This is the Agent Info window. Any ideas?

The Agent Info window from above is normal, same like here.
Its also normal that you can only access the Passphrase field .
I type my password there , click on OK and connman connects, though the first time sometimes it wont and I have to repeat connect.

Whats not normal, is the “Error’connect’: Argument list too long”, after entering connect wifi_name_of_your_wifi , using connmanctl.

But I have no concrete idea what that could mean and unfortunately there is not much to find on the net about the error either.

How does your connect wifi_line look like. Mine for example looks like this
                    connmanctl> connect wifi_00242c7f0864_4855415745492d423532352d37463441_managed_psk

Hopefully someone else can help here more.

As far as I remember, I always clicked this agent input window away.

Simply select the appropriate interface (blue) and click Connect. Then the PW for the router is requested…
                      It is quite simple.

The only drawback for me is that the tray icon is only displayed once Connman has been started via the CC.

                        Success!

I kept feeding it the wifi password and after 4 times it actually connected. Brilliant.

Thanks for the help guys. I’ll mark the post solved if I can figure out how.
