Hi. I’m new to antix and am having wifi issues. When I go into the wireless section of connman it doesn’t show any WiFi networks, and in the status tab of connman, there is no “WiFi” option to be powered on. Pls help.

Also in the wpa gui when I try to add a network it doesn’t work. It’s just says “Failed to enable network in wpa_supplicant configuration”, and if I go into the wpa_supplicant folder there’s no config folder.

          Welcome to antiX.

My guess is that your WiFi card was not recognized, and you will either need to adjust the configuration, or add firmware. Please look at the first post in this thread for info on how to get the information needed to solve it.

It is worth noting that in the full iso version, I didn’t get this error but now that I switched to the base iso, I have this issue (don’t ask me why I switched)

The 2 versions are not identical. Based on the info you posted (ie full vs base), I think you should go back to the full version, and remove LibreOffice if you need the space.

This is precisely why users asking for help here in the forum should be concise and yet provide as much detail about their problem as they can on their initial post- indicating exactly what antiX version you are using, and, if relevant your system’s info… If you initially said something like “I have no wi-fi in antiX 22 base, but wifi worked fine in antiX 22 full – what do you think the most probably initial advice would be, if you want to use wi-fi on that device?
You probably would have gotten an usable answer much faster . and probably would also probably notice how to solve the problem yourself – “Hum… it used to work in version X, does not work in version Y, I wonder, how should I solve this problem?”- some times, asking a question out loud leads to it’s own evident answer.

PS: – I only say this because you apparently have no obvious reason to switch away from the full version- if for some technical reason you need or want to use the base version, then it’s a matter of checking out what packages “full” has, that are not present in “base” and install the relevant ones in your system- that requires some hard work, and that you know what you are doing- if you have no good technical reason to switch from “Full”, my advice it, keep using it – it’s easier to uninstall stuff that you don’t need (like LibreOffice, for example) than hunting down stuff you do need to install…

                P.

I guess my post on how to get help is now the 2nd post in the list…

                  https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/how-to-get-help-with-an-antix-problem/

I think you already have the easy answer, but it might help if you would post the details so at least it would be possible to improve the base version if there is space on the cd.

I didn’t realise that I downloaded the base version the second time until then. Sorry 😐. I downloaded the full version from my dad’s office computer so I’m good now.

Actually, I would have guessed the wifi firmware is completely included in base as well.
It would still be interesting which exact version of antiX is used here and which wifi card comes into play.
So please post from working full-antiX output of
                      inxi -zv7
                      if you find the time.

Hmm, base only includes the old kernel, could be a reason.

                        Install a later kernel.
                        base uses a 4.9 one.
full also includes a 5.10 version

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
