      I have been trying to use wine for a windows package but it appears to be incomplete. When I tried to run wine I got the message that wine32 is missing and needs to be installed. I tried to install wine32, it failed due to dependencies that the system refused to install.

      I could not find any information on this web site about the situation and other web sites have information about different Debian Linux systems (like Ubuntu) and I am reluctant to try and adapt them to antiX. Can anybody help?

      This is the output I got when running wine or trying to install wine32:

      demo@antix1:~
      $ winecfg
      it looks like wine32 is missing, you should install it.
      as root, please execute "apt-get install wine32"

      $ sudo apt-get install wine32

            This is MX Linux repo and even MX Linux testrepo. Probably that is your problem.Please deactivate them.
            Might your system is already completely mixed.Dependency problems are bound to happen.It may be possible to install a single package from MX, but after that the repos must always be deactivated immediately.The testrepo is to be taken on antiX yet with greater caution.

                sudo geany /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pitemp.list
                Then in the file go to the line
                deb http://mxrepo.com/mx/testrepo/ buster test
                and comment it out like this
                #deb http://mxrepo.com/mx/testrepo/ buster test

                The same do for
                sudo geany /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pitemp1.list
                the line
                deb http://mxrepo.com/mx/repo/ buster main non-free
                like this
                #deb http://mxrepo.com/mx/repo/ buster main non-free

                After closing and saving
                sudo apt update

                  dear,
                  have you tried to use the antiX app centre?
                  There the apps are expressly studied to fit with our OS.

                  That solved a lot of problems of mine (also with wine).

                  Good luck 🙂

                      @madibi,

                      If you mean using the package updater from the control centre then that is always my first port of call.

                      For some packages like PC-BASIC and XPaint I had to seek external .deb packages but they installed without problems.

                        I apologize. I wasn’t clear enough.

                        The antiX app centre can be found both:
                        – through Menu -> Control Centre -> Software -> program install (sorry, this is an approximate translation from Italian) in any case this program has a rectangular icon that looks like a suitcase, and it has a downward pointing arrow
                        – in the tray: you can find the above described icon close to the menu.

                        When you open it needs the root pw, then you can search the program that you are interested in through a name research, and then you only have to wait for the end of the process.

                        I verified in some cases that using synaptic I had problems in installing wine. The issues disappeared using the installation software app.

                        Good luck 🙂

                          @madibi Yes that is what I am about too. Except in English it is Menu->Control Center->System->Package Installer. All of the wine packages from there are installed (except for wine32).

                            If the Package Installer works, awesome. However, another option is to enable 32 bit architecture and install wine32.

                            sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
                            sudo apt update && sudo apt install wine32

                            This approach may require ‘apt reinstall’ for dependencies to install 32 bit libraries and you may have 32 bit packages installed moving forward that you may or may not want. It’s a bit of a pickle but it is doable.

                              You have to fix that first. Please look here
                              https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/how-to-update-antix-19/

                              Afterwards look if you can update without the GPG error.Then try to install wine32 again.

                                I changed the repo list as recommended:

                                $ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list
                                # Use with Debian Stable/buster repositories. Set as default for antiX-19.
                                deb http://mxlinux.mirrors.uk2.net/packages/antix/buster/ buster main nonfree nosystemd
                                # deb http://la.mxrepo.com/antix/buster/ buster main nonfree nosystemd
                                # deb-src http://la.mxrepo.com/antix/buster/ buster main nonfree nosystemd

                                # Use with Debian Testing/'rolling' repositories.
                                # deb http://la.mxrepo.com/antix/testing/ testing main nonfree nosystemd
                                # deb-src http://la.mxrepo.com/antix/testing/ testing main nonfree nosystemd

                                # Use with Debian Sid repositories.
                                # deb http://la.mxrepo.com/antix/sid/ sid main nonfree nosystemd
                                # deb-src http://la.mxrepo.com/antix/sid/ sid main nonfree nosystemd

                                Unfortunately, the problem still seems to be the same:

                                $ sudo apt update
                                . . . . . . . . .
