ok then the kernel is refusing to load the drivers. maybe the newer 4.9 on the 17.1 iso will have
updated drivers/modules that will. I would use the 64-bit iso since your pc supports it.
Maybe another user might chime in with more ideas also.

                    you’re welcome
can you type “lspci” in a root terminal and list its output so I can see the
wifi cards actual chip model. nevermind…After reading your picture I realized
it lists qca9377 as the chip number.

I will as soon as I’m back in front of the machine and before the new install.

It seems everyone is having a problem with this chip…search shows lots of distros with
the same problem and a newer kernel with a newer firmware-atheros package is probably the easiest
solution. Some sites were talking about backports to the older kernels…which is a real pain in
the butt. The newer kernels and the firmware-atheros package list your chip (qca9377) so should work.
                        stretch has firmware-atheros (2016)
                        sid has firmware-atheros (2017)
                        packages in their repos.

                          Thank you for that.

I am installing the 64 bit base iso now. There were a few choices but figured get the base running and then branch out from there.

Many thanks for your time and wisdom. I look forward to passing it on as I get familiar with the OS.

                            You’re welcome,
The iso has 4.9 kernel by default but has 4.15.9 kernel in the main repo.
I think it’s a good thing to pass it on too.
“listen-learn-try-teach” I think is a good motto to live by.

Thanks to all for the time to answer my post.
Installed Antix 17 64 bit basic and worked like a charm.
I look forward to learning the OS to be more proficent in the future with troubleshooting.
Having this boot on a machine that was so embedded with Windows OS is like being a runaway slave.
Again, my best regards to you all and look forward to speaking with you soon,

                              Red.

glad to see it works now…..I just posted a wallpaper under the graphics post
to free that “runaway slave” pc. I spent alot of years under a Windoze/DOS tent
building gaming pc machines and fixing a F-5 hurricaine of problems for people.
In your next post ask you maybe could ask them to mark this as solved.
