      Hi a,
Any chance of making XMMS able to change size with the little vertical/horizontal arrows?
We aged folk find so much difficulty seeing normal-sized stuff. The available ‘double’ is simple not big enough.

That sounds like an issue you should ask the XMMS developers about. The forum seems to be offline, but the website is at https://www.xmms.org/.

Maybe some of the skins listed there might be of help?

          Did you try Ctrl+D?

That should make it double sized.

Instead of battling xmms, try some of many other available audio players. I’ll suggest “audacious” for starters.

some others: clementine , deadbeef , vlc

“cmus” is legible and in the repos.

                Brilliant!

And xmms remembers the size next time!

“The available ‘double’ is simple not big enough.”…shows that I already tried that and it’s still not big enough.

OK. I’ll try a different player.

Peter, You seem to always want things larger on the screen.

One option is to attach a larger screen
Another option is to change your DPI settings, but that will affect other things too.
Another option is to use a terminal based program, and increase the font size in your terminal.

Another option is to find a different program. Might try search for:

                      alternatives to xmms linux

kodi is available from the Packager installer (or Software installer)

I found one that I like. I’ve been looking for one that does really well thought out playlists. It’s not in the antiX repos, it’s from the MX repos. Not sure it’s supported longer term.

                          Hi BobC,
Deadbeaf will probably do. It can be made larger but the best of all that I’ve found over 25 years is Foobar2000. It’s made in Linux. I wonder how difficult it would be to get it to work here?

                            BobC,
Judging by your playlist, it seems that we have similar tastes in music.

Search web for foobar2000 linux alternatives

Foobar2000 can be run, I think, but Wine or Snap methodologies are not for me. I prefer to find something that is happy running under linux. I’ve tried a few more, but they were crappy compared to guayadeque. It manages to guess things from my collection that I will like without me needing to fuss with it. I’ll probably stick with it for now. I just needed some background music for while I work.
