The same Xorg failure happens for both antiX 21 Live and MX 21 Live after installation of nVidia-legacy-340:
Hardware: Thinkpad T410 / nVidia NVS 3100M, initial driver Nouveau.
System: antiX Live or Frugal, MX21 – Fluxbox Live.
      Test case:
      – On antiX 21 Live installed nVidia driver via CC initiated process, on MX-21 Fluxbox Live – nVidia install from menu.
      – Remastered Live instances and rebooted to replace Nouveau with nVidia-Legacy-340. Both antiX 21 and MX21.

Reboot with nVidia driver fails with loop of Xorg error messages:

      Fatal server error:
      (EE) no screens found (EE)
      (EE)
Please consult the X.Org Foundation support
(EE) Server terminated with error(1). Closing log file.

This error does not occur if nVidia driver is installed on a traditionally installed instances (exactly the same version of antiX and MX21) to HD. Traditionally installed antiX and MX 21 boot just fine with nVidia driver initialized. So the only difference is the Live (or antiX Frugal) vs. traditionally installed.

      To summarize testing experience:
      – Boot with nVidia fails for Live antiX 21 (and antiX Frugal 21) and Live MX 21 Fluxbox
      – Boot with nVidia works fine for traditionally installed to HD: antiX 21, MX21 – Fluxbox, MX21 – XFCE

Since user base of antiX Live with nVidia must be not too large, I am not particularly hopeful for any resolution. This is just to report testing experience…

        Try this live cheat.

        load=nvidia xorg=nvidia

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

So, (until/unless this live situation is able to be fixed) does it work to install antiX to hdd, install the nvidia-legacy-340 pkg into the traditional installation, then make an ISO-snapshot. Then run the ISO-snapshot as a live-usb/frugal, with nvidia-legacy-340 “pre-built” into the live instance in that way?

          confirmed antiX frugaler, since 2019

            Try this live cheat.

Thank you! Live instance booted properly with nVidia driver loaded when specifying this cheat code.
            Greatly appreciate…

I already tested this scenario as I similarly thought the ISO snapshot should faithfully replicate the working environment. I actually tested this on MX 21 -Fluxbox, which exhibited the same issue, before I even traditionally installed antiX, just for testing sake.
Unfortunately this route did not resolve this issue. Same happened. Therefore my conjecture was that this issue must be specifically attributed to Live boot process vs. traditionally installed.

It appears that xorg=nvidia is sufficient. No load=nvidia is necessary in my case…
