      Hi-

      This is the dialogue box that shows when I click on XSreensaver:

      Warning:
      The XScreensaver daemon doesn’t seem to be running on display “:0.0”. Launch it now? [If that is selected, it runs.]

      I google searched and tried many commands that did not work.

      Also, I wonder if it may be that the default screensaver is still there and causing conflict. I cannot find that screensaver’s file if it is there, and it does not appear to ever engage.

      When I tried this Terminal command:

      xscreensaver -no-splash

      $ xscreensaver -nosplash
      xscreensaver: 07:13:07: already running on display :0.0 (window 0x2200001)
      from process 3241 (rj@antix17).
      ——————–

      [antiX 17 icewm]

      Any assistance with this would be appreciated.

      Thank you.

        If you are using the IceWM window manager, from the AntiX button, go to Control Center, and Desktop tab, click Edit IceWM settings, go to startup tab, and assuming its empty, add the following lines

        #!/bin/bash
        # Turn on xscreensaver
        xscreensaver &

        Save it, and Logout with Reboot or maybe Restart Session (I didn’t try that).

          If the above doesnt work for you or if you dont use icewm, you can also try to add the above lines to the startup-file in the hidden .desktop-session folder in home.

            The first suggestion worked perfectly.

            Thank you both for the tips. Good information to have in case I change desktops.

            Very much appreciated!

              I already have the following lines in the Startup tab however still not working.

              #!/bin/bash
              # Turn on xscreensaver
              xscreensaver &

              I use Icewm but not sure how to add the above lines to the startup-file in hidden .desktop-session folder in home. Your help would be appreciated.

                Larish, I just now clicked FAQ link in forum header and re-read

                http://download.tuxfamily.org/antix/docs-antiX-17/FAQ/icewm.html

                Is there a screensaver?
                -=-
                Yes, it defaults to a black screen, with or without locking. Alternatively, use the lock option in Exit. If you want you can add xscreensaver

                so maybe xscreensaver isn’t yet installed on your machine.
                To check:
                which xscreensaver
                To install:
                sudo apt-update && sudo install xscreensaver

                  Your installation command suggestion didn’t work, however the installation via Menu-System-Synaptic Package Manager – xscreensaver worked fine. Again thank you for your time.
