but the cpu is practically 100% playing videos that are inside a website

Do you have hardware acceleration enabled in the browser that you are using to play those videos?

After disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox the CPU performance is similar, around 100%.

        EDIT:
I tried Falkon. It uses much less CPU, around 70% with Youtube.
Can you suggest any other browser?

Try seamonkey, palemoon and (for users of antiX 21) ungoogled chromium ( u.g. is heavier, but it tends to run google related services, like youtube, better)

See also for alternative websites playing ‘YouTube’ videos:
            https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/list-of-lightweight-front-ends-to-modern-websites/

I have an experience that watching any streamed video became a pretty (not in a nice way…) much CPU heavy activity – due to rendering the video – recently.
Not quite sure what the reason is.
I intend to open the PC, check for/clean dust (and possibly re-paste CPU, if I feel more adventurous and have more free time).

If I am interested in the sound only, I can switch to other/dummy tab and the CPU load decreases.
If I intend to watch the video several times, I usually download it to PC (as already suggested in previous posts).

EDIT: Would you care to try using NoScript, blocking almost everything and allowing only the video you are interested in?

Whenever possible play videos outside of a browser to lower system load. Block all possible ads, as sybok noted no script is good but you will at times find it blocks more than you want. u Block is tamer.
In many cases it is easy to read the video url from the embedded player window. In some other cases right click within the page and show the page code, search for the video url. You may also be somewhat shocked at the amount of background scripts in modern website pages and (maybe after some search engine usage) why they are there.

Bit OT, but if a CPU is working hard very useful.
Most CPU and many GPU will give temperature to a conky, If you have multicore always starting with core 0.
Watch: frequency cpu load in % and coretemps, if your temp is within manufacturers limit at highest frequency
and full load your cooling system is at least working reasonably well. Removing dust dirt and debris every half year or so is still a good exercise depending on environment. Just if you clean a fan with compressed air hold the rotor still to avoid bearing damage or even blade throw off. Better: do your lungs a favor and use a soft brush to dislodge dust animal hair etc while a helper holds a vacuum cleaner suction hose nearby.

CPU frequency varies under load on all/almost all non early vintage models.
Sometimes BIOS settings will need optimizing to get optimal performance. The setting is often called speedstep, also if a setting is available CPU cache should be on. In most cases and again if available optimized settings is the option to click.

Thanks friends, lots of useful information!!!

                – I installed Antix21 (now 64 bit) on a new partition. It seems to go a bit smoother, although the CPU work with videos is still very high.
So far the computer has not frozen, but, by the way, the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf file still doesn’t exist. I don’t know if I should add again it to the system.

                – I have tried Seamonkey and it seems a bit lighter. I think I’ll stick with it as my default browser.
I also tried Ungoogled Chromium, it’s true that Youtube works better, but for using it only with YT I think it’s better to use SMTube.

                – Most of the alternative websites to watch YT are down. I imagine there will be new ones, I haven’t looked yet.

                – Yes, NoScript seems too much. My experience with Ublock hasn’t been bad so far. What I do have installed is the Antix ad blocker, which I think is fantastic.

                – I am a music teacher, I have a web platform where I upload a lot of videos for students to watch and listen to. That page also takes a long time to load. There will be about 10 YouTube videos embedded, and although they do not play automatically, the page takes a long time to load. It would be nice to have a scrprit that would block them and I could activate it only if I wanted to. Years ago I remember seeing something like this, but now I don’t see anything like it.

                – I think I’m going to use this trick, it seems the best. When you copy the url of the video what program do you use to play it?

                – I don’t quite understand how to optimize the BIOS. Is there a site where I can learn how to do it?

-CPU and fan were not too dirty 😉

                EDIT:
I have found a way to block images and java in Mozilla 🙂 :
                about:config
                Search for permissions.default.image.
Click on the Edit button and enter 2.
                Press the Enter button.
                Search for javascript.enabled.
Double click on it to set it to false.

However, with this system I have problems logging into some sites and it seems not to be a good solution.

                EDIT_2:
Palemoon has a fantastic add-on: Block content 0.3
with it I can block almost anything without a problem 😀
