The program is a front end for Youtube-DL. You select options, paste in the URLs, click add, and click Download.

It is available as a .deb as well as source, but no matter how you install/run it, unless you run it with root privileges, it will say “Queued” and never download.

The good news is that it does work via sudo from a terminal 🙂

      Requirements

      Python 2.7.3+
      wxPython 3
      TwoDict
GNU gettext (to build the package)
FFmpeg (optional, to post process video files)

There are links on the site there for each of the requirements and all are available in .deb or repo packages. I got it installed from Ubuntu .deb’s originally, but didn’t realize its problems were security elated till the source version had the same problem.

Its always nice to have choices how to do things… I suppose I should DECIDE whether I want to work from command line or GUI, but its always nice to have choices…

Have you tried this —v present in antiX repo? (I haven’t tried it yet.)

Although I seldom use video players, the SpecialFX::Mirroring of SMTube(?) is an appealing feature.

          Instead of sudo. Try maybe

          gksu

You can use the locate command and ls -l command to check out permissions on installed files I guess.
But running it as root seems to me to be no big deal breaker. Hell. Gparted and synaptic do the same thing.
