If you have been paying attention to posts here in the forum, you probably know about the “ft10-transformation” package, that aims to implement the usability and features found on most modern OS (like windows, android, Ubuntu, etc) in antiX, without consuming extra system resources… Someone had the idea to modify IceWM to look just like Windows 10 and posted a video (with links to the used themes and applications): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw1u17e8m_8
Please note that the end result does look like Windows 10 enough to fool most ordinary windows users… But the “Windows 10” menu used in the video, although like similar to the real Windows menu is a simple application to launch a set number of predefined applications… The video suggests a nice Rofi idea, and Icewm and icon themes that are clones of the Windows ones…
I prefer having real functionality, not just a relatively useless carbon copy of another system, but there are some real good ideas in the video…

::The functionality issue was there from the beginning and i won’t be surprised if it hasn’t been done.

::That was wildly complex for normal folks. but maybe the good parts of it could be included in a package…

::At the speed he demonstrates the step by step, I think it’s impossible that someone can do everything correctly.
It’s another antiX Linux video on YouTube and that’s good.
I believe that a “ft10-transformation” video is much more interesting and easier for any lay person to accomplish just by watching a video.– – – – –
July 29, 2022 at 11:54 am #86651ModeratorBobC

::Getting away from the busy Win10 platform is one of the attractions of Linux.

::Yes, but having things like familiar looking icons isn’t so terrible.
The key in my mind is not to try to duplicate something they created, but rather to create something that works better and faster, but looks and feels similar enough that I can switch back and forth without making mistakes due to the two machines running different operating systems.
I suppose it all depends on your purpose and objectives…

This vision of yours makes changing the operating system much more friendly to the end user who just wants to click to access the internet, produce a text or send an email. I support your thinking.

Esta sua visão torna a troca do sistema operacional muito mais amigável ao usuário final que só quer clicar para acessar a internet, produzir um texto ou enviar um e-mail. Eu apoio o seu pensamento.
