HELP WANTED. The KDE Applications 16.08.3 Release was the last 16.08 version issued in 2016 before moving on to release 16.12. It came out only about a month after 16.08.2 to correct some bug fixes. There is a peculiarity apparent in the Stretch-derivative implementation of Okular, which is based on 16.08.2 and 16.08.3, revealed in the attached file, OkularBuildPkgs.txt. The 2 kde-runtime modules are version 16.08.3, but okular is version 16.08.2. It seems then that okular may not take advantage of the latest kde-runtime features and corrections. Of the 4 distros tested, okular works fine anyway on 3 of them, Debian Stretch, MX18.3, and Devuan 2.1 ascii. Okular doesn't run on AntiX-17.5. ************************************************************************* A web search on "KDE Applications 16.08.3 Info Page" goes to a site where one can download the okular 16.08.3 tarball for building a new .deb file from source. Unpacking the tar ball, tar -xvJf okular-16.08.3.tar.xz, reveals a directory of source components. A web search on "Compiling Okular from source on Linux" describes a procedure for building an executable. The first "git clone" step creates a directory "okular" which has some but not all of the components in the tarball, and additional pieces at well. It seemed to be oriented to newer KDE Applications releases. ******************************************************************** I don't know how to build the new okular .deb file from the tarball. Hence, my HELP WANTED call. I hope someone has the expertise to prescribe it. Len E.
